Last week I had the opportunity to travel to Oyotunji for work. There was no lay-over, no unusual in-flight movie or bad food. There wasn’t even a flight. Oyotunji is the only African Village in North America and it’s located in Beaufort County, South Carolina.
It was a very interesting place where all the rules of a traditional African Village are followed. It was a kingdom with a King and Chiefs. There were shrines to the saints they worship. They believe in the traditions of the ancestors. It was simple and serene. Most of all it was very colorful.
